In order to pursue our business positioning and support growth, Optimum General Inc. is looking for a Technical ADVISOR in Commercial Lines to complete its team at Head Office located in downtown Montreal.

Specific responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Underwriting, the candidate will collaborate with colleagues in the development of new regional and pan-Canadian products as well as the improvement of existing ones.  Thus, the candidate will contribute to the analysis of the needs of the branches in terms of products, programs, and pricing and ensures their adequacy with the objectives and profitability sought at the corporate level. The candidate’s strong technical skills allow them to actively participate in the development of corporate underwriting standards, guides, and policies to ensure consistency and quality of underwriting that is profitable at both the branch and corporate levels. The candidate will analyze and make recommendations submitted by the branches (referrals) and participates in the deployment of technical training for underwriters during the implementation of new products.  In addition, the candidate will participate in audits of branches and always contribute to the improvement of the department's processes or to any other project for which their expertise is required.

Work Experience and Aptitudes 

The candidate's experience is based on proven professional achievements in commercial insurance as well as a strong knowledge of the Canadian market. Known for their excellent business judgment, strategic thinking, propensity for action and dynamism, they will be able to reconcile corporate interests with those of branches.  Holding the CIP designation, the candidate is a skilled communicator and fluently bilingual (French and English, oral and written) while their strong interpersonal skills will facilitate teamwork. Finally, experience in agricultural and personal insurance will be considered an asset.
