Description

Reporting to the Personal Lines Underwriting Manager, the Underwriter is responsible for assessing and evaluating automobile and property risks.  They will need to process, underwrite and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, cancellations and endorsements.  The ability to ensure authorized limits are in accordance with established company guidelines, applicable laws and regulations as well as apply standard rates and premium in underwriting and processing policy transactions.  The successful candidate will need to provide technical advise, recommendations and mentoring to underwriting assistants.  A need to provide broker training and information sessions as well as answering inquiries and making recommendations to brokers through verbal or written correspondence.  Broker relationships are at the heart of what we do so the ability to travel from time to time will be a requirement along with a valid G drivers license. 

We are looking to hire someone to work in our North Bay office.  We have a hybrid work model that preserves the balance between working from home and that in-person interacting which is so valuable. 

In order to meet the requirements of this position, the candidate must have post secondary education or comparable previous underwriting experience. The candidate should be recognized for their good communication skills (verbal and written), efficient keyboarding, and attention to detail.  They must be a team player with a positive attitude.
