The Role and Responsibilities

ABOUT THIS ROLE

This role is at the heart of insurance policy administration. A highly visible position in the organization that enables policies to be processed according to the terms of the client agreements, also known as “treaties”, and according to the risk distribution specified in the agreements. You’ll become a subject matter expert on how the administration system handles each product configuration for our world-wide insurance clients. You will be hands-on in the technical set up of products, benefits, features, rates and more. You’ll be a key contributor for new client and new product implementation. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The Reinsurance Administration System Specialist will work both independently and collaboratively to perform duties outlined below within the Administration department, effectively following established guidelines, processes, and best practices. This role works closely with other departments, including internal IT department, to leverage collective expertise and information to complete the system setup of insurance products, automate transaction files and complete other special projects within deadline and quality targets. Assists in training staff to perform duties and will transfer knowledge as needed to ensure the team accomplishes department objectives.

System Treaty Administration: 

  • Analyze the reinsurance agreement terms  and the client’s insurance products,  to determine the most effective approach for the system setup and execute within the administration system.  
  • Test the accuracy of the system setup by developing and executing test plans in parallel with clients’ files.
  • Document, explain product features and communicate data requirements to team members and internal clients.
  • Promptly address internal client’s questions/issues related to system setup requirements. 
  • Research and resolve issues by partnering with team, internal clients, and management. 
  • Proactively identify challenges and prevent roadblocks that may impact the timely completion of implementation. 
  • Identify effective solutions to incorporate efficient business processes.
  • Support projects related to amended agreements resulting in administration changes to the existing in force business. 

Electronic File Processing:

  • Establishes and validates IT requirements for new and existing file automation. 
  • Analyzes and resolves complex issues in relation to automated processing. 
  • Reviews and approves technical procedure documentation for creating and maintaining automated processing. 
  • Verifies integrity of external client data comparing it to reinsurance source documents. 
  • Research, troubleshoot and work independently to test and resolve complex issues.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • LOMA certification AMLI and ARA preferred, but knowledge of insurance/reinsurance concepts and familiarity with treaties is sufficient.
  • Experience with mainframe administration systems. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

  • Ability to effectively transfer knowledge. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume office environment with a high-degree of organizational and follow up skills.
  • Outstanding collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills; able to effectively interact with all levels of internal business partners.
