Description

The role provides support for high level strategic projects which will drive new business development growth and profitability for the company. The ideal candidate will show a keen interest to support pricing life reinsurance transactions and to take on a project within the team.

The intern must be in the office at least three business days during the a normal work week. 

Responsibilities:

As a key support to the pricing team, the candidate will be exposed to strategic initiatives that include:

Reinsurance of life business
•    Contribute to pricing new business and inforce reinsurance transactions
•    Support the execution of reinsurance quotes

Optimize profitability of inforce business
•    Participate actively in the review of actuarial assumptions for an inforce block of business
•    Prepare key profitability and actuarial information to advise strategic decisions
•    Support the implementation of high-level risk management projects (KRIs, KPIs, etc.)

Review and Update Pricing Assumptions
•    Analyze internal and industry experience studies and seek, if necessary, the additional external data that would be useful in the development of assumptions and rates
•    Conduct analyses on a selection of current pricing assumptions

Actuarial support
•    Support ongoing projects from members of the pricing team
•    Improve pricing tools through automation or standardization of existing tools
•    Provide support to other areas within the company with regards to Actuarial tasks

Experience:

• Completed 1 or 2 SOA preliminary exams (or equivalent)

• Enrolled in 2^nd or 3^rd year of university studies in Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science

• Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

• Intermediate knowledge of R
