Reporting to the Personal Lines Underwriting Manager, the Underwriter is responsible for assessing and evaluating automobile and property risks. They will need to process, underwrite, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, cancellations and endorsements while maintaining their work within corporate service standards. They are also required to ensure authorized limits are in accordance with established company guidelines, applicable laws and regulations as well as apply standard rates and premium in underwriting and processing policy transactions.  The successful candidate will be required to provide technical advice, recommendations and mentoring to underwriting assistants, as well as have the ability to manage broker training and information sessions as well as answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers through verbal or written correspondence.  Broker relationships are at the heart of what we do, so the ability to travel from time to time will be a requirement. 

We are looking to hire someone to work in our North Bay branch office.  While we support a hybrid work model which preserves the balance between working from home and in-person interactions, we will require a full in-office presence for a minimum of the initial probationary period for the position. 

In order to meet the requirements of this position, the candidate must have post secondary education or comparable previous Personal Lines underwriting experience. The candidate should be recognized for their good communication skills (verbal and written), efficient keyboarding, attention to detail, and possess good time management and organizational skills. They must be a team player with a positive attitude. Completion of the CIP designation or working towards the completion of the CIP designation will be considered an asset.
