Job Summary

The Vice-President, Underwriting, promotes and implements a strategic vision to support our profitability, our vision and our objectives. The incumbent is responsible for defining our underwriting philosophy, monitoring its application and determining our product and rate strategy.

Specific responsibilities

• Anticipate industry trends and business opportunities by conducting financial analysis and analyzing various data
• Evaluate our business lines, profitability, rates, retention and market conditions for all of Canada;

• Is responsible for results in terms of loss rate, growth and underwriting profits;

• proactively manages and monitors results and key performance indicators of assigned underwriting teams to achieve desired results. 

• Develop and implement action plans to maximize our operational efficiency, growth and profit;

• Work closely with the Actuarial Department on rate reviews to ensure profitable growth;

• Any other duties and responsibilities for which the incumbent's expertise is required.

Experience/training

• Bachelor degree;
• 10 to 15 years of Underwriting experience;
• Five years leading a team;
• Professional Designation in actuarial field : FCAS; FCIA
