I had the privilege of working with our founders during the past 29 years. At first in our legal department, then led by Mr. Gilles Demers, caring and cultivated man, who showed great respect for his team members. In his department, rigor was in order but, the most important he said, was to stay in a good mood. His successor, Mr. Louis Fontaine, embodies these principles. What characterizes him, is that a problem must remain small, unless you can solve it. Later on, I worked for Mr. Gilles Blondeau and Mr. Henri Joli-Coeur on the executive team. The relational aspect of Mr. Joli-Coeur would enable him to keep an eye on each employee like a good father. His door was always open to whoever wanted to confide in him. Furthermore, there was the traditional round of Mr. Blondeau when he returned from a business trip to shake hands with employees, seizing the opportunity to ask them if they were happy at work and if their family and health were doing well. These great men who have built the Optimum Group passed on to me insightful learnings.
